Please you us about some of your most enjoyable moments of the trip?
My most enjoyable moment of the trip was going to KTV with the other summer teachers and singing our hearts out to (a surprisingly large selection of) western classics.
Which were the highlights of the lessons, cultural excursions and outdoor activities?
In lessons the highlights were the cultural shocks that the students and I discovered together, such as differences in our respective society's views, and how progressive the young minds I was teaching were.
On cultural excursions, the highlight was the charming hospitality of restaurant and shop workers who were patient with us, despite the thick language barrier.
How would you say the overall experience has benefited you?
I have a broader understanding of China's culture and I gained a lot of independence and maturity form being in a country so far from home on my own. I have discovered a love for travelling that I was never fully aware of.
What was the best thing about your experience in China?
Definitely the food.
Would you recommend participating to a friend and if so why?
Yes and no. This experience is so valuable to building your character and getting life experience, but I would recommend a friend to choose a program with a more relaxed policies on teaching.
