Feedback Gemma Abbott

Gemma Abbott joined our projects in Oral English College
Please you us about some of your most enjoyable moments of the trip?

It was amazing, though from a self improvement point of view because there is no training and little support. I did really enjoy teaching though and being so far outside my comfort zone.

Which were the highlights of the lessons, cultural excursions and outdoor activities?

Seeing the kids gain confidence, building up a more social rapport on trips and managing our own activities

How would you say the overall experience has benefited you?

I'm so much more confident in terms of knowing how I should be treated and expecting to be respected in that way. I learnt to stand up for myself and modify situations and management to make the work more rewarding and sustainable

What was the best thing about your experience in China?

The scenery, learning to teach and learning to have confidence in myself. Meeting people.

Would you recommend participating to a friend and if so why?

Yes, but go in expecting it to be hard, unsupportive and exploitative. It's a good way to go to China and get a TEFL, but it's hard and you must expect mayhem.
