Would it be possible to have more information with regards to where I will be placed and a confirmation of the dates before I pay my deposit? I would like to check flight prices beforehand.

Owing to the complexity and strenuous bureaucratic procedures involved in making a placement offer, we request a deposit initially to confirm that you wish to proceed with our programme. Once you have made a deposit, you make a commitment to attend our programme based on the preferences shown in your profile. So, if you ask to join a programme between 1st July and 10th August in urban areas, you should expect to be placed on the closest match we have to those preferences. Please only pay the deposit once you are sure about your preferences. You may update those preferences by going to this link: https://www.go-to.co/update-your-application/ When possible we approve the request for a change, however if you were already made a provisional offer and then request a complete change of dates we cannot always accept it because we make offers based on the availability of our programmes.

Regarding your flight concerns, please don’t worry about pricing. We always endeavour to assist our participants to ensure flights are in the range of £400-600. When the time comes, we will assist you in seeking out well priced options.

Video Interview – Can you upload a pre-recorded file for me? My computer isn’t working.

I do not have a PC that supports the video recording application from your website, instead I have recorded a video on my iphone / ipad. Would I be able to email it to your team so you can upload it on my behalf?

Support team answer:
At this time, unfortunately we are not able to upload a videos on your behalf, this is because we use a secure third party app to create and store the videos.

So, the only way to solve this issue for you is to suggest that you first try on another browser. Usually people experiencing an issue like this are able to resolve it by changing to a different browser. In our experience Chrome or Opera are the most reliable browsers.

If this method fails then please consider borrowing somebody’s computer to do your recording instead, as this could be a local issue with your computer.

What is the difference between experiential and classroom based learning?

What are some examples of an experiential learning environment versus a classroom environment? Wondering what I could expect in either or as I choose what I would prefer.

Support team answer:
An experiential learning camp would be more of a North American- or British-style summer camp with lots of outdoor activities, like rock climbing, hiking or tug of war. There would then also be lots of sports and arts/crafts, and even music, depending on the exact camp. You would be with the students throughout the day supporting them on the activities and trying to develop their English through the games. This is a fun way to work with children, but it is also intensive as you spend the whole day with the kids, with only a few breaks. This means you can really get to know the children and make an impression, while taking part in lots of fun activities and even creating your own new activities. These camps tend to be in the suburbs of cities or rural areas and you are generally quite immersed in the camp environment throughout the week.

Classroom teaching is more of a traditional environment for teaching English as a second language, but you would be encouraged to use songs and games to make the lessons as fun as possible. You would typically teach for a maximum of 6 hours per day, plus some time for lesson planning. You can then use your spare time on your (usually) 1-2 days off and spare time on working days to explore the local area.
