This programme offers you an introduction to teaching abroad through a fun and intensive summer camp setting. You will gain knowledge and experience in teaching through conversations and group activities with Spanish teenagers, while studying towards a 120-hour TEFL certificate. During the programme you will:
Please note that this programme gives you teaching experience through leading games and conversational activities, rather than formal classroom teaching. This is a chance to develop your leadership skills and experience a summer camp.
On this programme, you will join a summer camp in rural areas of Spain – with the majority of camp sessions in the countryside near Salamanca. Although your time on the programme will be mainly focused on the camp activities due to an intensive weekday schedule, you will have time to explore the surrounding areas on the weekends. Not to mention a final night in Madrid, the perfect spot to jump off and explore more of Spain after the programme.
The camp’s mission is to transmit language learning in a fun way, inspiring young people to go further in speaking English, while also boosting their confidence and teamwork.
This means that you will gain teaching and leadership experience while also doing fun activities and gaining insights into Spanish culture. One of the best things about teaching English in another country is getting your students to give you tips and insights into the country you’re in, and in Spain it is no different. Use your teaching time to share about the UK while also learning from your students about life in Spain.
We also recommend exploring Spain through Interrailing or making use of the new Nationwide public transport pass, costing only 60 euros! Using either of these avenues, add to the adventure and experience backpacking after the camp. Spain has so much to see, from the Alhambra in Granada, to the Camino de Santiago across the Basque region, get out there and see a Spain that isn’t always seen on the postcards sent back to the UK.

We want to make teaching and travel more accessible. For this short-term introduction to TEFL teaching, you benefit from funding that covers:
Please note that for this programme you are responsible for your own travel costs (flights or interrail) and for any other pre-departure costs, such as a DBS or visa (if required).
This programme is right for applicants ready to throw themselves into the summer camp experience. This means having high energy levels, being adaptable, and being ready for busy days.
Summer camps require you to be with campers all day, leading activities and being responsible for them even during down time. There are breaks in the day, but it is a full-on and busy experience Monday-Friday when you are running the activity camps.
This is incredibly rewarding and a lot of fun, but the weeks can be tiring! You’ll have a fantastic chance to take part in meaningful cultural exchange with Spanish people – both the campers and your Spanish co-counsellors – and to learn about working in Spain.
The camps are designed to be a transformative opportunity for these teenagers. It is a fun experience for their summer and an opportunity to see English as something they can use to communicate, rather than simply grammar structures and vocabulary taught in school. If you like being around people and have a positive attitude, then this programme is for you!
