Join our England Sojourners Programme to take the first steps into a career in teaching. Along the way, experience a fascinating new culture and language, and gain valuable qualifications and skills.
We set this programme up for those that aren’t eligible for our UK government funded projects elsewhere in the world. Our other programmes are funded by the UK government and are reserved for UK nationals and those with the right to work in the UK. If you aren’t eligible, please join this great programme instead! We are delighted to invite you to join us in England! You can apply for any of our short-stay intakes to have a placement as a camp activity volunteer and cultural ambassador. This comes with full funding for accommodation & meals and includes a comprehensive array of fun activities, cultural exchange options and professional development support. You need to self-fund flight costs.
 
We hope this will give you an insightful summer of volunteer experience,and launch you onto a global and impactful career. Alongside the placement, you will work through the a TEFL certification course, upon completion you will be very well placed to seek a career in the global TEFL sector.
 
This placement is intended to help you to launch a career in this fascinating sector, and local costs are all funded – that includes measl/accommodation, TEFL/TESOL certification and local tourism.

What do you get?

This sojourner programme in England is your launchpad for a global and impactful career. On the programme, you will receive:

  • Full funding to cover your food and accommodation during your initial training and orientation tourism
  •  TEFL crash course

  • Personal and community support, including 24/7 support for emergencies.
  • Visa and related paperwork processed and funded by our team
  • The skills and insights you gain here will be transferable and position you very well to take on future employment in the TEFL sector anywhere in the world.

What does the training include?

Before starting your placement in England, you will be given induction teaching and culture training by the host programme. The training will start on arrival, all your accommodation and meals will be fully-funded during the duration of the programme. The training will include:

  • TEFL training.
  • Local culture immersion and activities
  • Local host crash course and induction, to ready you for their teaching placements.

What does the teaching involve?

You will be teaching English to international summer students in the England OR leading on activity camps for local students.

  • You will be guiding students as an international camps volunteer, usually 5 days per week with weekends off. Where you serve for longer periods, you would get more downtime too.
  • You will usually be in a great tourist town location, for example – Oxford.
  • You will receive continuous professional development support and mentoring to support you in your teaching and with your future career plans. 

How do you apply?

Please apply 4 weeks before an intake start date. Places filled on a rolling basis.

To apply you need to:

  • Hold a high school/A-level or equivalent certification.
  • Be an advanced/native English speaker.
  • Be available and excited to travel to England this summer

This programme is ideal for students/recent graduates from universities and colleges, but is open to anyone!
