Your role will focus on supporting our Project Development Manager to prepare US and UK university students for their summer in China. You will receive support from our principles throughout your placement, but also have space to be innovative and take the lead on projects which interest you. Specific responsibilities and tasks include

  • Designing and building cultural exchange and regional information packs, e.g. China location descriptions, China ‘survival guides’, and more
  • Liaising with our China Coordinators (Chinese team in the office) to match candidates to the best school for them and ensure they are given the information they need
  • Social media management; engage with volunteers before they come to answer questions and provide interesting content for them to watch or read

  • Summer coordinator: join one of our programs across China from mid-May to be a local coordinator; help volunteers settle, organise fun activities, liaise between school and volunteer
  • Tech: work with us on web and social media development and integration; help us develop a new online education platform

Time Requirements

You will need to commit to a minimum of three days a week, or equivalent.

You need to have willingness to continue some tasks out of the office occasionally, e.g. managing social media and replying to emails.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Fluent English; Mandarin proficiency is preferable, but not required
  • Experience of travelling in foreign countries
  • Design experience preferable, but not required
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Web design experience preferable, but not required

Gotoco is seeking a Marketing Officer: North America, Europe and Oceania to work closely with our Directors to oversee our marketing activities in these regions. The role will be based in our Beijing office and require a full-time commitment.

Role

  • Overseeing and coordinating overall marketing team, including people based on-site in Beijing as well as off-site positions
  • Strategy research, e.g. finding suitable universities and determining how best to market opportunities there
  • Designing and organising marketing materials, social media management and blog/article writing
  • Liaising between China client management team and our non-China marketing efforts
  • Assisting in allocation of applicants and preparation for their time in China
  • Itinerary and camp design for outbound summer camps, including some client management

Extra possible roles could include

  • Corporate social responsibility (CSR) market report
  • Designing and building cultural exchange and regional information packs

Requirements

Applicants should

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree and have relevant experience in marketing or similar roles
  • Be a native English speaker; competence in Mandarin is preferred, but not required
  • Have experience of working, studying or travelling abroad, especially in China
  • Have some experience in organising and coordinating Directors’ schedules
  • Be familiar with Microsoft Office, and be proficient in working online, including use of global social media
  • Be organised, proactive, quick to learn and eager to take responsibility and ownership of the role

Every summer, we aim to help 600 US and UK young people to visit China all completely free and funded. We work with over 100 schools in 70 locations, both urban and rural. This is a big project and so we rely on having a great team to make sure all our participants have a great summer. We are currently seeking applications to fill 4-5 positions on this project with spring and summer 2018 start-dates.

Role

  • Liaising with China Management team and attending China client meetings to develop China summer projects
  • Helping to organise and coordinate outbound camps for Chinese children

Full time is preferred. However, if you wish to combine this with study of Chinese at one of the local universities then we can also offer part-time roles. You will need to commit to a minimum of three days a week in the office, or equivalent.

Gotoco runs summer camps across China, in both urban and rural locations. Get lost in beautiful scenery in Yangshuo, Guangxi or jump into the hustle and bustle of Beijing, Chongqing and Shanghai. Whatever you’re interested in, Gotoco’s got the place for you. We run camps in more than ten locations throughout China, offering a mixture of culture, history and adventure.

Cost?

Free of charge and remunerated with funding to cover TEFL training, accommodation, meals and other internal costs.

At the end of each programme, we guarantee every volunteer free accommodation for a week in Yangshuo, Guangxi, one of the most beautiful and fun places to visit in China.

Besides our summer camp projects, we also offer well-paid full-time teaching roles at our partner schools in Beijing and around China.
