Could you please tell us about some of your most enjoyable moments of the trip?

Teaching kindergarten aged kids was an absolute treat! I had two classes and spent all of my time with them in their other activities outside of English class and this meant I really got to know the kids well and develop relationships with them.

Which were the highlights of the lessons, cultural excursions and outdoor activities?

Lesson highlights were the more hands-on fun things like competitive games, both with my young class and teenage aged class. They really get into it and enjoy learning much more than just being drilled words/sentences.

Cultural excursions around Quanzhou were fascinating particularly visiting Mt. Quingyuan and the Lao-tzu statue!

How would you say the overall experience has benefited you?

It has made me a more confident individual as there really is no opportunity to be shy or nervous when standing in front of an expectant class. It has really opened my eyes to a wider culture with a truly lovely, welcoming society.

What was the best thing about your experience in China?

Getting to know the kids better, forming friendships with other teachers and encountering fascinating new cultures and peoples.

Would you recommend participating to a friend and if so why?

Yes, it is a humbling experience and awakens you to the vastness of the planet and all its cultures and histories.
