Ruben joined our programme in Dongguan city in the summer of 2016, please read on for her feedback.

Can you tell me about some of your most enjoyable moments of the trip?

I loved the other people I was working with. My students were really lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed teaching them. The 5 days in Yangshuo were also really fun.

Which were the highlights of the lessons, cultural excursions and outdoor activities?

The school trip to the outdoor adventure centre was really fun. I also really enjoyed the trip to the shop and preparing a song for the closing ceremony.

How would you say the overall experience has benefited you?

My confidence has grown after having to stand in front of a group of 30 students and be in charge of teaching them. I have learnt so much about China and their culture which I never knew about before. I have discovered how much I enjoy teaching and working with children.

What was the best thing about your experience in China?

Meeting so many wonderful people!

Would you recommend participating to a friend and if so why?

Yes. It is something you have to do once in your life. You become a better person as it nourishes your soul.
